Receiving a payment

Where to start

Payments are always recorded against a specific loan. Two entry points:

  • Payments tab — shows today's, tomorrow's, and overdue scheduled payments across all your customers. Tap one to go straight into the collect flow.
  • Loan detail — tap a loan card and pick Get Payment from the menu.

Both paths open the same form.

Pick an amount

The form doesn't ask you to type the amount from scratch. Under What is being paid it offers options based on the loan's state:

  • Installment Payment — the scheduled installment for this period, marked Suggested. The most common choice.
  • Interest only — just the interest portion. Principal stays untouched.
  • Pay off loan — the full balance plus the period's interest, to close the loan in one shot.
  • Total Due — the principal currently outstanding, without interest.
  • Delayed Payments — shown only if there are overdue installments. If there's just one, it's selected; if there are several, you choose which ones to collect.
  • Late Fee Payment — shown only if the loan has accumulated late fees; it shows the amount and how many installments are overdue. It doesn't reduce the loan balance. See Late fees.
  • Other amount — a free-form field. Type any number up to the full balance plus interest.

If you enter an Other amount equal to or greater than the period's interest, LoanAdmin asks Payment Includes Interest?: pick Yes, Includes Interest or No, Only Principal. That choice changes the remaining balance and the schedule.

Under Method, mark how you were paid: Cash, Transfer or Card.

Pick the date

The date picker lets you choose any date from the loan's start up to today. Useful when you collected yesterday and forgot to log it — just backdate. Future-dated payments are not allowed.

Save and share a receipt

On save, you're given four options:

  • WhatsApp — opens your phone's share menu with the receipt as a PDF and the receipt text. Choose WhatsApp and your customer's chat.
  • Share — system share sheet (email, SMS, cloud drive, etc.).
  • Print — if a Bluetooth thermal printer is connected, prints the receipt there; otherwise it opens the receipt PDF for printing.
  • Skip — close without sharing.

Whatever you pick, the payment is already saved. The share step is optional.

After saving

You return to the Payments tab or to the loan detail (wherever you came from). The loan's pending balance, last-payment row and schedule are all updated. If the payment closed the loan (balance reached zero), it moves from Active to Inactive in the Loans tab.

What we don't ask for

  • No split payments across loans — one payment belongs to one loan. If a customer pays you for two loans at once, record two payments.
