Create your first loan

This short guide takes you from start to finish: pick or add the customer, fill in the loan details, review the summary and create it. It only takes a few minutes.

Before you start

By default, the interest rate you enter is monthly and is split across the month's payments. If you'd rather charge the full rate on each payment, switch it to Per period in the menu (☰) › Settings › Loan configuration. More details in Installments and interest.

1. Choose the customer

  1. Tap the + button in the bottom bar.
  2. If you don't have any customers yet, the app takes you straight to New customer. If you do, choose Existing customer or New customer.
  3. For a new customer, choose Manual entry or My contacts.
  4. With Manual entry, Customer Creation opens: enter the Customer Name (the only required field) and, if you like, the Phone number. Tap Save and you return to the loan with the customer already filled in.
The app doesn't check for duplicates when you type the details by hand. If you import from My contacts and that contact is already your customer, it offers to use the existing one.

More details in Add a customer.

2. Fill in the loan details

  1. Loan Type: Fixed Interest, Amortized or Open-ended Note (you only see the types you have turned on).
  2. Loan Amount: the principal you lend.
  3. Interest Rate: the percentage. A line underneath reminds you whether it's monthly or Per period.
  4. Payment Frequency: Daily, Weekly, Biweekly or Monthly.
  5. Term: with Calculate by installments you enter the # of Installments; otherwise you pick the end date. The Open-ended Note has no term.
  6. First Payment Date: calculated automatically; you can change it.

As you type, Loan Information shows the payment per period, the interest and the total to pay. Every field is explained in Creating a loan.

3. Review the summary

Tap Continue. The SUMMARY opens with the customer and loan details. If everything looks right, tap Create loan.

4. Done!

You'll see Loan created!. From there you can Share summary as a PDF by WhatsApp or email, Print summary, or tap Continue to go back to Home.
